Brian Eno Encourages Public Help to Get Together for Palestine Song to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A charity drive is aiming to send a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The effort aims to send support to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Chance for Support and an "Surprise Victory"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to support Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it fails to, Christmas singles are a thing unto themselves.”
Resilient Spirit of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.
“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “It’s basically saying that I would prefer a dignified death than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Production History and Featured Artists
The single was laid down in the wake of a major charity concert held in late summer. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the piece was cut from the show due to time constraints.
The impressive roster of performers appearing on Lullaby includes a group of acclaimed names from the scene. All participated in the September show, which successfully generated a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was crafted by a trio of music creators. The track showcases a mix of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.
The group managing the initiative have stated that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These resources will be channeled to Palestinian causes through an established charity.
“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a representative explained. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Of course, the higher the total, the greater the impact. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”
The situation in the area was noted for its profound destruction, with a vast majority of infrastructure reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.
“Given that reality, a couple of million doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is first of all raising awareness for this issue and showing the human dimension of the story.”
The track is launching on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
