Canada's Blue Jays Secure World Series Showdown With defending champion Dodgers
George Springer previously helped the Astros securing the World Series in the 2017 season.
Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their initial Fall Classic after 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the ALCS.
Behind three runs to one, Springer delivered a three-run homer in the seventh inning, leading the only Canadian franchise in the majors to a 4-3 series triumph in the seven-game series. Next up are the Los Angeles Dodgers, holders of the defending champions, in the anticipated championship.
"I'm just so happy for our team, the city, Canada," commented Springer, a key player of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 World Series. "What an amazing experience."
George Springer has now connected for twenty-three playoff homers, placing him third on the list after Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"I can't think of another player on planet Earth that I want up in that spot except for him with his playoff prowess," noted Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
Seattle, after leading the early in the series, continue to be the sole team yet to make an appearance in a championship series.
Wilson stated "without a doubt that it hurts" after his team's loss at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but praised their efforts in the campaign.
"They're an exceptional squad. It's a shame that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of this one," he continued.
Toronto's team won the World Series on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the opener on Friday.
