Football Expert Chris Sutton Battles Singer Olly Murs in Premier League Forecasts

The Gunners' 10-game winning streak came to an end by Sunderland before the global break, but can the English top division frontrunners recover against local foes Spurs this weekend?

"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," remarked football specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this term, versus AI, readers and a variety of guests.

In the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

The singer's latest album, the new release, is available on the weekend.

Football and Family Life

Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a featured player of multiple charity football matches over time - but he is not intending a professional comeback as a player.

"{I actually played in a charity match the other evening for a friend of mine," he said. "My team was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I still love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my child or boy decides to play instead."

Murs and his wife his partner have a young family, Madison and Albert, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their coach.

"I will not force football on our children but I've previously told my wife that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be managing their weekend soccer team," he said.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a soccer team for a while too.

"My dad coached with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I inherited it. He managed our side for several years and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Premier League Forecasts

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's comeback from injury but their attack is already stronger with Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this fixture will be quite tight, however. Burnley are well organised and their sole at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

It suggests a one-all tie to me, but I am in fact going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

The singer's pick: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their past two games - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which shocked me.

In contrast, the Hammers secured back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at home, they appear competitive again.

The Hammers' only away victory this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was previously Forest manager.

So, what on earth do I predict here - will it be the Hammers extending their run under Nuno, or the home side responding?

I will go with the Cherries, because I believe what occurred against Villa was a blip.

Sutton's forecast: 2-0

Olly's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have improved under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were seen as one of the frontrunners for relegation before the season started, but they have surprised a few observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three in their past four matches.

My son told me to select Bees forward Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will probably score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back the away side at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had much fortune on the travel this term, and the Seagulls are consistently strong at home. The visitors will try to attack on the counter-attack but I feel the home manager's side pose much more of a threat.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

The singer's prediction: This could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a many goals but it in reality turns out to be quite tight. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six matches.

They have got lots of quality in their team but it still seems like they could be dragged into a drop zone battle.

As for Sunderland, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League campaign so far.

The away side's performance in the two-all tie with Arsenal last time out was superb. We have not witnessed any other team disrupt the Gunners like that this season, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing would be to support the visitors here, because they are obviously able of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the end of last month.

But I am not choose that. Rather, I really need to continue opposing Sunderland with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their positive results because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.

Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage form, the only side they have lost to is Arsenal. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to say they will secure three points.

The expert's prediction: 1-0

The guest's choice: I know the visitors are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a poor run... but they have still been decent at home this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard fixture to predict. The Reds have lost seven of their past 10 matches in every tournament, but might they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
