Mohamed Salah Extends Apology to Teammates, Reveals Curtis Jones
Jones has shared that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the group of players in the wake of the controversy from his public comments.
The Incident
The striker was dropped from a European match following criticising the club and claiming his relationship with manager had soured.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I apologise.’”
Arne Slot has refused to comment publicly on whether he got an explanation from the player.
Moving Forward
The player stated that the dressing room atmosphere stayed normal. “He was his usual self, he had a big smile on his face and it was business as usual,” the midfielder explained.
Jones also suggested that a teammate fighting for a place is less of an issue. “I understand there are certain ways you can go about things,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just not start, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
Positive Results
The team's performance have remained strong in the matches since the initial controversy. Jones believes the Salah's words were not designed to cause disruption.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it’s always been from a good place,” Jones concluded. “That chapter is closed and we’re gelling well as a team, performing and starting to win games.”
